The History of the DNUG

On 13 June 1994, DNUG was founded in Wiesbaden by representatives of 36 companies as “Deutsche Notes User Group”.

Until September 1995, it had been the Augsburg office that attracted a significant number of registered members and coordinated the DNUG activities. After that, the Jena office assumed organization and administration of the DNUG in joint cooperation with Jena University of Applied Sciences headed by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang F. Finke.

DNUG has since organized two annual conferences. As of 2015 it was one conference per year. In 1999, the 10th-Jubilee conference in Munich attracted over 500 participants.

On 7 November 2011, the general assembly of members decided to change the user association to registered association “DNUG e.V.”. One year later, on 7 November 2012, after intensive strategic discussions about the name there was another renaming to “DNUG – The Enterprise Collaboration Professionals e.V.”. This reflected the detachment from the “Lotus Notes” product and orientation towards general Collaboration Products.

The new election of the complete managing board in 2015 implemented a strategic reorganization of the association which had been prepared and developed by the members and the previous management. The DNUG geared to Collaboration Products of IBM, exclusively.

To this effect, the association was completely restructured. Early in 2016, DNUG discontinued the office premises in Jena and transfered the seat to Berlin. The Jena office had been continuously managed by Dr. Roswitha Boldt.
